Getting to Thailand
There is an extensive number of flights that run between major cities of India & Bangkok. Bangkok has two major International Airports, Suvarnabhumi Airport and Don Mueang International Airport. One can choose to take a flybus or flight from Mysore to Bangalore International Airport or flight to Chennai International Airport and then fly to Bangkok.
Pattaya’s nearest airport is the U-Tapao International Airport but has very limited connectivity. Thus the best way to reach Pattaya from India would be to take a flight to, Bangkok and then, either take a bus or minibus or a private cab to Pattaya.
Phuket International Airport is well connected to Bangkok and Pattaya with everyday flights. There are also direct flights from India. Phuket can also be reached by bus or cab from Bangkok. One can get the buses from Bangkok Southern Bus Terminal. The bus ride takes a minimum of 13 hours.
Majority of places in Thailand are totally safe to travel. Bangkok city has an excellent system and network of transportation that is very convenient to move around. Taxis, tuk-tuks, local buses, Skytrain, express boats are some of the facilities one could make use of while in the country. Many places also offer two-wheelers and cars to move around.
Visa Process
Thailand Visa on Arrival fee for Indians in 2019 is 2000 THB which is to be paid in cash (Thai Baht). However, Thailand has waived this fee until the end of April 2020.Make sure you check this with your travel agent at the time of booking the holiday.
When applying for Thai Visa on Arrival, the following documents are mandatory:
1. Indian Passport which is valid for at least 30 days.
2. Return journey air ticket within the next 15 days.
3. One passport size (4 x 6 cm) photo.
4. Filled-in Visa on Arrival application form and Thailand Arrival Card (Ask for this in the flight)
5. Visa on Arrival fee of is 2000 THB
6. Address of hotel in Thailand and booking confirmation.
7. Proof of funds of at least 10,000 THB per person and 20,000 THB per family during the stay in Thailand. Funds could be shown in any currency. The proof of funds is not commonly asked but there is a possibility.
